Valentino Rossi, the rider for the Movistar Yamaha team, was the first to unveil the NVX, Yamaha's most important model in Southeast Asia.

The once-popular Yamaha Nouvo will now be a thing of the past, as the Japanese manufacturer officially introduces the all-new Yamaha NVX. This will be the official name in Vietnam and Malaysia, while in Thailand and Indonesia, the model will be called AeroX. Racer Valentino Rossi was the first to unveil the NVX to the public at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia. The bike is expected to launch in Vietnam on December 16th.

The Yamaha NVX was launched at the Sepang racetrack in Malaysia.

The NVX is positioned in the 'upper class' compared to its old rival, the Honda Air Blade. The name Nouvo is no longer used, replaced by a new name. Besides the name change, Yamaha has equipped this strategic model in Southeast Asia with a series of significant upgrades.

The body design is highly distinctive, with many sharp, angular lines creating a sporty and aggressive look. The headlights use two independent LED clusters, and the taillights are also LED. The license plate bracket, which integrates turn signals, is separate, raising the rear of the car and further enhancing its sporty appearance.

The NVX 155cc version has a dry weight of approximately 100 kg and a wheelbase of 1,350 mm. The dimensions are 1,990 mm x 700 mm x 1,125 mm (length x width x height). The seat height is 790 mm. It features 14-inch wheels with a 110/80 front tire and a 140/70 rear tire.

The Yamaha NVX uses a 5.8-inch full-LCD central display for the rider. This new display allows the rider to monitor parameters such as engine RPM, adjust mileage for each trip, and display speed, time, and vehicle status indicator lights.

In the premium version, the NVX is equipped with a smart key that integrates trunk opening, fuel filler cap, ABS front brakes, and a start-stop system. An optional oil-assisted rear shock absorber will be available on the NVX, however, Yamaha has not yet revealed which version will offer it.

The design is sportier and more aggressive than the Nouvo.

The second-generation Blue Core engine equipped on the NVX comes in two options: 125cc or 155cc. In addition to being liquid-cooled and featuring a single overhead camshaft (SOHC), the NVX also utilizes a variable valve actuation (VVA) system.

With new technology and a new design, the NVX is a model that Yamaha hopes will deliver a better riding experience, enhance practicality, and redefine the true sporty scooter segment. The company's sales target is 300,000 NVX units per year.Yamaha has not yet announced the specific names of the versions, colors, or prices.

The Yamaha Nouvo, first introduced in 2002, marked a significant turning point in the perception of motorcycles in Vietnam. Upon its arrival, the Nouvo gradually redefined what a fashionable scooter should be, especially for young people. After more than 10 years of existence and development with numerous upgrades, the Nouvo gradually lost ground to its successor, the Honda Air Blade. Despite launching five years later than the Nouvo, the Air Blade attracted customers and experienced steady growth, gradually surpassing the Nouvo in sales.

With the NVX, Yamaha has high expectations, at least to "break new ground" like the Yamaha Nouvo did.
