"US diplomatic personnel must leave Venezuelan territory within 72 hours," Mr. Arreas wrote on his Twitter account.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the United States planned to withdraw all remaining diplomats in Caracas this week, because their presence in Venezuela entailed constraints on Washington's policies.
Mr Pompeo, however, was not clear about what he considered the binding factor.
