Venezuela 'opens door' to welcome Russian Navy, causing US plan to collapse
Today, August 16, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez signed an agreement on the operation of warships to the two countries.
Thus, the presence of the Russian Navy is like a guarantee from Moscow to the Maduro government. The efforts of the Venezuelan government have made the US plan under the cover of a humanitarian invasion fail.
In addition, the two senior officials also discussed the current situation in Venezuela, as well as issues of bilateral military and military-technical cooperation.
Minister Shoigu said Russian officials are closely monitoring developments in Venezuela and have noticed unprecedented pressure from the Washington administration, aimed at destabilizing the country.

Mr. Soigu also noted that the efforts of the Venezuelan government have foiled the US plan to organize massive protests and divide society under the guise of a humanitarian invasion.
The head of the Russian Defense Ministry affirmed that only the Venezuelan people have the right to determine their future. Outside interference, especially in the current tense situation, is unacceptable.
Sergei Shoigu affirmed that the national armed forces of Venezuela are the guarantors of preserving the country's political system and territorial integrity.
In a status shared on his personal Twitter after meeting with the Russian Defense Minister, Venezuelan Defense Minister Padrino said that this meeting will help maintain a dynamic and strong relationship between Venezuela and Russia.
In addition, according to Mr. Padrino, this will also create more results in education, training and organizing combined naval, land, and air force exercises.
The agreement on the visit of warships to the ports of Russia and Venezuela is considered a strong blow to the opposition's plot to overthrow the Maduro government (backed by the US).
The presence of the Russian Navy is like a guarantee from Moscow to the Maduro government. With this agreement, even if the US wants to, it cannot intervene militarily in Venezuela like it did in Iraq and Syria.
