On his official Twitter account, Mr. Lopez wrote: "In order to consolidate the victory of our people against the aggression against the electricity grid, President Nicolas Maduro has ordered the Bolivarian National Armed Forces to conduct the exercise called 'Ana Karina Rote' on March 16-17 to protect the population and strategic facilities."
On March 7, at least 20 of Venezuela's 23 states lost power. Venezuela's state energy company said the widespread outage was caused by a malfunction at the Simon Bolivar hydroelectric plant. Some analysts said the incident was unprecedented on such a large scale.
On March 13, Venezuelan Minister of Information and Communications Jorge Rodriguez said that power supply had been fully restored nationwide./.
