VFF agrees to cancel V-League 2021

At the online meeting of the VFF Executive Committee this afternoon (August 21), one of the topics discussed was the organization of professional football tournaments in Vietnam in 2021.

The VFF Executive Committee meeting at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon was held online with 15/16 members present, only missing former Hai Phong Club Chairman Pham Manh Hung.
During the meeting, VFF President Le Khanh Hai, after consulting with clubs representing the regions and the two tournaments V-League and First Division, proposed suspending V-League 2021 to minimize financial losses for the teams while the whole nation is working together to fight the pandemic.

All 100% of the 15 votes of the VFF Executive Committee members approved Mr. Le Khanh Hai's proposal, agreeing to stop V-League 2021 so that teams can minimize financial losses, focus on fighting the Covid-19 pandemic and have better preparation for the 2022 season.

The VFF Executive Committee meeting also agreed on the plans to be assigned to the VFF General Secretariat and VPF to discuss carefully to plan a meeting with professional clubs early next week and then make a decision.
Thus, after many arguments between VPF and the clubs, the VFF Executive Committee meeting has come to an outcome that is considered the most reasonable for Vietnamese professional football.
It is expected that early next week, VPF will propose to the clubs a plan to stop the V-League and the first division in 2021, then come to an agreement on whether to recognize the champion team or not, whether or not to relegate the team, and who will represent Vietnam in continental tournaments such as the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup.
