Unless something changes, in 10 days, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) will officially hold a contract signing ceremony with head coach Phan Thanh Hung, who will begin his duties on September 3rd.

This information was confirmed to the press by Secretary General Ngo Le Bang. Mr. Bang stated:“We have agreed on a number of points with Coach Phan Thanh Hung, and if nothing changes, within 10 days, the contract with Coach Phan Thanh Hung will be signed with the terms as the public and press have already reported. Coach Phan Thanh Hung will begin his new job with the national team from September 3rd.”Coach Phan Thanh Hung's contract will run from September 2012 to December 31, 2013, with salary and financial terms not being disclosed.

Thus, the VFF has approved Coach Phan Thanh Hung's dual role, allowing him to work alternately with the national team and Hanoi T&T Club until the end of his contract. Specifically, Coach Phan Thanh Hung will work full-time with the national team until the end of the 2012 AFF Cup, after which he will return to Hanoi T&T Club to participate in the 2013 V-League season.

After the end of the 2013 V-League season, coach Phan Thanh Hung will continue his work with the national team, preparing the U23 team for the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar.

Initially, according to a statement by VFF Vice President in charge of finance Le Hung Dung, if coach Phan Thanh Hung worked full-time long-term, he would receive a salary of up to 200 million VND per month.

However, since Coach Phan Thanh Hung only agreed to a short-term assignment, he certainly couldn't receive such a record-breaking salary for a domestic coach. Although the exact amount of Coach Phan Thanh Hung's salary wasn't disclosed due to contractual obligations, General Secretary Ngo Le Bang confidently asserted that the salary was sufficient to satisfy Coach Phan Thanh Hung.

In addition, the VFF has promised to create the best conditions for Coach Phan Thanh Hung to work and commit to the national team in the long term. Currently, the training and competition plan for the Vietnamese national team in the coming period has been developed by Coach Phan Thanh Hung and the VFF National Teams Department, with consultation from the National Coaches Council and reputable football experts.

Starting their training camp on September 3rd at the La Thanh Hotel (Hanoi), the Vietnamese national team will officially begin preparations for the 2012 AFF Cup with 7 to 8 international friendly matches (including the planned VFF Cup). Simultaneously, they will play a few matches against domestic clubs whose opponents have yet to be determined.

At this year's AFF Cup, the target set by the VFF for coach Phan Thanh Hung and the Vietnamese national team is to reach the final.
