(Baonghean) - For nearly a month now, the working hours of the Quang Trung Ward Urban Regulations Team (Vinh City) have often extended until midnight. Tired but happy, because a series of "spontaneous" night-time food stalls along Quang Trung Street, especially around the area in front of the Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Memorial House and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, have been completely removed.

Quang Trung Street has truly become a "clear and unobstructed road".

This is one of the issues that residents and voters in the ward have been petitioning about for months. Therefore, when the city launched a campaign to ensure order on Quang Trung Street, making it truly a "clear road and sidewalk," urban order and environmental sanitation in Vinh City and Quang Trung ward considered this a top priority. Consequently, not only the Urban Regulations Team but also other forces such as the Neighborhood Security Team and the Militia... simultaneously launched the campaign.

After more than three weeks of persistent effort, the chaotic street vending situation has now been resolved. Households wishing to conduct business long-term have been relocated to the designated night food street area. Mr. Le Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of the Quang Trung Ward People's Committee, said: "Removing the vendors from the sidewalks was very difficult because it affected the livelihoods of the people. However, during the implementation process, we made persistent efforts to persuade and explain, and basically, the people agreed."

To ensure traffic safety, urban order, and environmental hygiene during the New Year and Lunar New Year (Year of the Goat) celebrations in 2015, the city of Vinh has been paying special attention to urban beautification efforts by functional forces and communes/wards in recent days. In addition, youth groups from various wards have been whitewashing and cleaning up tree beds and small garbage collection points along streets such as Truong Thi, Ho Tung Mau, and Le Mao.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thang, Head of the Urban Management Department of Vinh City, affirmed: “2015 was a year with many major events, so we have requested that wards and communes prioritize ensuring traffic safety, urban order, and environmental sanitation as a regular maintenance task. Simultaneously, we must strengthen inspection, supervision, and enforcement. If any ward or commune allows repeated violations such as encroaching on roads and sidewalks, using sidewalks for trading, or stockpiling construction materials, the chairman of the People's Committee of that ward or commune will be held responsible.”
