Why can't Quang Nam Club participate in AFC Champions League?
Despite being the new champion of Vietnam, Quang Nam Club could not participate in the AFC Champions League. So what factors of the Asian Football Confederation AFC did Quang Nam Club fail to meet?

Participating in the continental arena is always an honor for any team. However, with the strict regulations of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), not every team in Vietnam can meet them.
SOME BASIC CRITERIA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE AFC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE + Stadium has seats in 2 stands + There is a 5-star hotel within a 30km radius of the stadium + Internet connection ensures communication work + The competition field and training ground have similar quality according to AFC standards + Participate in enough youth tournaments in 1 year (U13, U15, U17, U19, U21) + Personnel and administrative criteria, legal and financial criteria |
Quang Nam FC has met most of these criteria. Regarding the stadium, they plan to rent the newly built Hoa Xuan Stadium of SHB Da Nang. However, there is one criterion that Quang Nam FC cannot overcome: in 2017, they participated in 4 youth tournaments U13, U15, U19 and U21 but did not participate in the national U17 tournament. This is a mandatory requirement of AFC for clubs wishing to participate in continental competitions.
Although Quang Nam Club is the new national champion, it cannot represent Vietnamese football in the AFC Champions League. This honor was given to runner-up FLC Thanh Hoa.
