Why didn't Obama's daughter appear when he gave his farewell speech?

Sasha Obama's daughter was absent while US President Barack Obama gave his farewell speech on the evening of January 10.

In his farewell speech in Chicago, Mr. Obama thanked his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, and his two daughters Malia and Sasha for their sacrifices for his political career. However, his youngest daughter Sasha was absent from this important event.

The incident sparked a series of questions on Twitter about why Sasha did not attend the event. Although many people assumed that the 15-year-old girl was absent because she had to go to school the next morning, some people had other theories.

A Twitter user named Celine Besman humorously came up with an exchange between Sasha and the restaurant manager (Obama's daughter had a part-time job at a restaurant): "Sasha Obama: 'Can I take Tuesday night off, my dad is giving a speech. Manager: 'Only if Sasha finds a replacement.'"

“After the great speech, all we can think of is ‘Where is Sasha?’” asked Twitter user Robin Thede. “Sasha is probably at the White House setting a ‘Home Alone’ trap for Trump,” Twitter user CB Imprintz jokingly explained.

In response to the above questions, a White House official said Sasha had to stay in Washington because she had an exam on the morning of January 11.

In his speech, Mr. Obama expressed to his two daughters: "You have become two smart, beautiful and more importantly, kind, thoughtful and passionate young women. You have gone through years of scrutiny with ease. Of all the things I have done in my life, I am most proud of being your father."
