Why do 'red seeds' wither early?
As the old saying goes, what comes quickly goes quickly. "Success" early without meeting the conditions will soon reveal limitations and weaknesses.
Names like Vu Minh Hoang, Nguyen Xuan Anh, Le Phuoc Hoai Bao and recently Tran Van Man, Nguyen Ba Canh… are all young officials, all starting out as “children of the powerful”, expected to be the “red seeds” of the country, thinking that the future was within reach, but some were disciplined, some were not disciplined, but for various reasons, their political careers all stopped.
Many "red seeds" have "ripened" |
Mr. Le Nhu Tien, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children, who once warned about the situation of "5c - children of the ancestors", plus "6e - money, descendants, relationships, exceptions, disciples, intelligence" leading to the situation of "5d - where can it go", jokingly said, it turns out that "good horses have to run long distances" but after only running a short distance, some people are exhausted, others "fall into the pit".
The National Assembly delegate of the XII and XIII terms said that through the above cases, it can be seen that if the children of the powerful have good qualities and abilities, there is no reason not to appoint them. But on the contrary, if they are not mature enough, and do not have enough time to test themselves to grow, and appoint officials so quickly, the situation of "halfway failure" is foreseen, and some people have not even reached the halfway point, and have just been appointed, but they have been dismissed.
“For example, in the military, to become a colonel or general, soldiers must also go through combat, going from private first class, private second class, to lieutenant, and it takes many years to get to one level. The same goes for any profession or field, you have to go from low to high, and it takes decades to get to the top,” Mr. Tien related.
The story of young cadres “ripening quickly, ripening forcedly” has left a painful lesson, it shows that cadre work needs to be more careful and cautious. They even need to be trained in harsh environments to see if they have enough qualities and abilities, and cannot be supported by “pulling them up by the hair”, Mr. Le Nhu Tien confided.
“Children of the powerful” are considered the “red seeds” of the country, inheriting the family’s knowledge foundation, and are all well-trained. Therefore, if we do not train them to have a solid foundation in practical work, to reach “maturity” in both mind and vision, but “burn the stage”, put them in a chair that is too big, too wide, it is harmful to them, it is contributing to hindering, even shortening their political path.

On the contrary, as “children of the powerful”, they cannot rely on their “red seed” status and assume that they are entitled to “benefits” from their ancestors. They must have self-respect to know how to preserve themselves and their family traditions, and not be branded as “forced ripening”, commented Mr. Le Nhu Tien.
Pointing out one of the many reasons why the “red seeds” were soon stunted due to being promoted too quickly, too quickly, too unexpectedly and too unusually, Mr. Le Nhu Tien said that the leader must take responsibility for the appointment. Especially the responsibility of the personnel organization agency - the goalkeepers of the personnel organization work for the Party and State agencies at all levels.
“There needs to be an objective review and assessment agency to evaluate the appointment. It is impossible for any agency or organization to have a full party committee, government leaders, trade unions, youth, women, and the Fatherland Front, but when violations occur, few people speak up to take responsibility. The process is very strict, but if an “elephant goes through the eye of a needle”, responsibility must be clearly defined,” Mr. Tien stated his opinion.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Quoc Ly, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, said that it is undeniable that the Party's policy is to encourage young people to develop well, if they are worthy and qualified, bringing them up is only beneficial for the country. That is the policy, but young people sitting in positions of responsibility require full qualifications. They must even be trained in practice, in difficult and complicated environments so that young people can accumulate enough courage and experience, hoping not to make mistakes.
The Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics analyzed that the special cases mentioned above clearly did not fully meet the standards. The reason they were promoted was because of respect and to please their superiors. As the old saying goes, what comes quickly will go quickly. Promoting early when standards and conditions are not met will soon reveal limitations, weaknesses, and shortcomings.
On the contrary, leaders whose children are considered “red seeds” before accepting favors for their children, should remember the rules of setting an example and the responsibility of the leader to consider whether to take advantage of the respect and favor of subordinates to promote their children abnormally quickly or not. Along with that, they should seriously and fairly consider the capacity and qualities of their children because it is not necessary to become this or that person to contribute to building the homeland and the country. What is important is what they can do for the homeland and the country./.
