However, in the semi-final night, the female student of the Academy of Finance was eliminated from the top 35. Many people expressed regret for Vu My Ngan. One account wrote: "Still don't understand why Vu My Ngan was eliminated. 1.81m tall, beautiful face, elegant, sweet, different, falling out of the top 15 is not sad, but not being able to enter the top 35 is too shocking."
Miss Ha Kieu Anh- a member of the jury of Miss Vietnam 2020 - said: "Not only Vu My Ngan, any contestant who was eliminated has a reason. The judges do not only score based on the time they stand on stage. On stage, the contestants have been carefully made up, different from normal life".
"For beauty queens, height is not everything. To be tall, you must have a balanced body. If being taller than 1.8 m is an advantage, it would be unfair to shorter contestants," Ha Kieu Anh added.
Ha Kieu Anh said that the judges closely followed the contestants from the first round, talked directly, and carefully observed their skin, hair, etc. She explained: "The contestants do not have to stand in front of the judges to answer, but have to talk to each judge so that we can evaluate their communication skills. Not only that, we have to monitor how the contestants behave when participating in group activities. Regarding appearance, the judges carefully evaluate their skin and hair. Therefore, the chosen person will be relatively perfect."
