Royal poinciana is commonly known as Pteria multifidapor pới; scientific name is Pteria multifidapor pới, belongs to the fern family.

The tree grows in the North and Central regions of our country, often growing on cliffs, earthen walls around ancient citadels, around wells, along roadsides in cool, humid places.

According to Oriental medicine, Royal poinciana has a neutral, cool, cold nature, sour, spicy, bitter, salty, sweet taste; Enters the heart, liver, kidney, stomach, and large intestine meridians.

Uses: clears heat and dampness, stops bleeding and swelling, detoxifies, treats hepatitis, jaundice, enteritis, dysentery, frequent urination, cloudy urine, hematuria, vaginal discharge, vomiting blood, nosebleeds, bleeding, otitis media, boils, ulcers; treats five symptoms of urinary tract infection, painful urination; convulsions in children, night crying, indigestion, sore throat. Can stop bleeding, regenerate tissue, pound and squeeze the juice to mix with alcohol to drink, apply the residue to painful areas; grind and store to treat stagnant gas and pain.

How to use: boil and drink 20-25g (fresh 40-80g) or grind into powder, pound and squeeze to get the juice to drink.

External use: pound and apply or boil in water to wash.

Royal poinciana is also known as chicken grass.

Medicine with Royal Poinciana:

- Treating dysentery caused by heat: 15g of Royal poinciana, 4g of Sea buckthorn vine, roasted until black, boiled in water to drink or just use 100-120g of Royal poinciana, pound and squeeze to get the juice to drink, drink 3 times a day.

- Treatment of bloody stools: 30-40g of Royal poinciana with steamed pig large intestine, remove residue, eat pig intestine, drink water.

- Treatment of acute hepatitis: 120g fresh royal poinciana, crushed and squeezed to get the juice, drink 3 times a day; 5 days is 1 course of treatment.

- Treat urinary tract infections, hematuria: 150g fresh royal poinciana, boil in water to drink.

- Treat heat and blood in the urine: 40g of royal poinciana, use the second rice washing water to boil and drink.

- Treats vaginal discharge, cloudy white urine and 5 urinary symptoms: Royal poinciana, moneywort, white cockscomb (each 12g), rice seed, sea buckthorn, and Chinese clematis (each 20g), decoct and drink 1 dose per day.

- Treatment of hemorrhage, gonorrhea: 40g of royal poinciana, use half water and half wine to boil and drink.

- Treatment of nosebleeds: 40g of royal poinciana, 40g of seaweed. Boil in water to drink.

- Treats lung heat causing cough: 40g fresh royal poinciana, wash, boil in water and mix with sugar to drink.

- Treat sore throat: 25g fresh royal poinciana, wash, boil in water, add a little brown sugar and drink twice a day.

- Treating mouth ulcers in children: 12g fresh royal poinciana, wash, boil in water, mix with a little honey and a little cinnabar and drink.

- Treating minor burns from fire or boiling water: dry the royal poinciana, grind it, mix it with sesame oil and apply.

- Treatment of phosphorus poisoning and poisonous mushrooms: 160g fresh royal poinciana, cut into pieces, crushed, and drink with spring water.

- Treatment of facial neuralgia: 12g of royal poinciana, decoct in water to drink.

- Treat typhoid fever: use small-leaf royal poinciana, adults use 160g per day, boil 2,500ml of water down to 750ml, first time drink 150ml, then drink 60ml every 2 hours.

Contraindications: Avoid drinking in cases of cold deficiency; Do not use in pregnant women or those with cold dysentery.
