Vinh street sidewalk before G hour

(Baonghean) - In 2 days, Vinh city will officially enforce the clearance of sidewalk safety corridors. At this time, the sidewalks of Vinh city's streets have had certain changes to be ready for action.

Before the campaign, all 25 wards and communes organized propaganda and mobilized households with illegal constructions to voluntarily dismantle them. And according to the roadmap, from April 15, the authorities will officially enforce the clearance of sidewalks for violators.

On April 5, Vinh Urban Infrastructure Management and Development Joint Stock Company drew lines to demarcate the boundary between the sidewalk for pedestrians and the sidewalk for bicycles and motorbikes according to the instructions on some contents when clearing the traffic safety corridor and urban sidewalks of Vinh City People's Committee.

Accordingly, this time, 41 service and commercial streets have sidewalks marked with boundary lines. In particular, streets with sidewalks over 6m wide have a 3m wide section for motorbikes and bicycles towards residential areas, the remaining part is reserved for pedestrians. For this reason, streets such as Quang Trung, Le Loi, Ha Huy Tap, etc. have seen a change when sidewalk encroachment has significantly decreased.

On major business streets such as Nguyen Van Cu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Tran Phu... people have proactively moved their signs inside and demolished the steps that encroached on the roadway and sidewalk. Mr. Tran Cong Nghia, on Ha Huy Tap Street, said: "After the People's Committee of Ha Huy Tap Ward came to persuade, propagate and sign the document, my family dismantled the steps themselves to return the sidewalk...".

Currently, wards in Vinh city are actively going to each household to sign the commitment with the people. Hung Binh ward has mobilized and propagated 1,100 households in the area to sign the commitment not to encroach on the sidewalk. Initially, some households have voluntarily removed the roofs, signs and steps. However, cases of trading on the sidewalk and roadside still occur. The ward has sent notices to each violating household, regularly mobilizing and reminding people to comply with the commitment as well as regulations.

Hong Son is one of the wards with the most business streets in the city, so the issue of clearing sidewalk safety corridors is facing many difficulties when many households borrow sidewalks for business. Mr. Tu Trong Hai - Vice Chairman of Hong Son Ward People's Committee said: Before the enforcement, every day there were ward officials and related departments such as the urban order team, police... divided up to go to propagate and mobilize on the roads. The Ward People's Committee has assigned responsibilities to the Fatherland Front and mass organizations to take charge of a self-managed road. Currently, the ward is gradually completing the means to prepare for the upcoming campaign including urban order vehicles, saws, cutters, excavators...

Although the wards have had 1 month to propagate, according to the reporter's records, up to this point on streets such as Hong Son, Nguyen Van Cu, Nguyen Phong Sac, Phan Dang Luu... there is still a situation where people do business and trade on the sidewalks.

Not to mention, the sidewalk is also a place to gather goods near crowded and bustling shopping areas such as Vinh market, bus station... In addition, on Nguyen Van Cu, Le Hong Phong, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai streets... the situation of fashion shops displaying goods for sale on the sidewalk is still common.
