Victoria Beckham criticized for hypocrisy for using animal skin bag
Victoria Beckham was criticized for pledging not to use animal skins for her own brand products, but owning many animal skin designer bags in her wardrobe.
A prominent figure in humanitarian and environmental campaigns, Victoria Beckham became the latest high-end fashion designer to say no to animal skins in her products on February 12. She pledged not to use crocodile, snake and lizard skins in her designs.
However, in her wardrobe of designer bags worth more than 2 million pounds (nearly 60 billion VND), Beckham's wife owns at least 100 Hermes Birkin handbags made from crocodile and ostrich skin.
One of Victoria Beckham's most stunning designer items is the £290,000 White Himalayan Crocodile Birkin bag, which David Beckham bought for his birthday. Hermes expert Jane Finds even said that this bag "may be the rarest and most desirable bag in the world".

The designer clothes that Victoria Beckham often wears are made entirely from animal skin. |
Each bag requires the skin of up to three crocodiles or one adult ostrich. Victoria also has a collection of expensive snakeskin bags. For example, the £2,000 Oscar de la Renta is made from the skin of at least one large snake. Similarly, the £10,000 Hermes Kelly bag is made from the skin of 10 green lizards.
While animal rights groups have welcomed Victoria Beckham's commitment, they are also deeply concerned about the 44-year-old fashion designer's designer wardrobe.
Elisa Allen, Director of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) in the UK, said: "Victoria has taken the first very important step in deciding to stop using animal skins for her brand. We believe that this decision will be implemented right from her own wardrobe when fake snake and crocodile products will replace the previous luxury brands."
However, public opinion has reacted quite harshly to this. Many people call Victoria Beckham a hypocrite.

Hermes Birkin albino crocodile leather is a limited production product, even if you have money you may not be able to buy it. |
A personal account named Misty Night wrote: "I was wondering if she would give up her personal collection of expensive fashion accessories made from the skins of so many animals. But I think not."

Another bag of Victoria Beckham is Asprey 167, also made from crocodile skin, priced at about 18 thousand pounds (more than 500 million VND). |
Another account asked: "Will she throw away her entire collection of Birkin handbags?" or "I wonder what will happen to all the expensive shoes, handbags and belts she wears?"
Victoria Beckham's spokesperson declined to comment on the matter.
