(Baonghean.vn) - Seven months after the unexplained disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, on Monday, October 6th, searches for traces of the ill-fated aircraft continued in the Indian Ocean – the believed crash site.

On October 6th, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) announced that "the vessel GO Phoenix has arrived in the search area in the southern Indian Ocean and begun its search for the missing MH370 aircraft." The ASTB also stated that the Commission is being very cautious in analyzing the data to determine the location of the missing aircraft.

The GO Phoenix is a specialized vessel capable of using sonar to reach depths of 5000 meters, allowing it to detect any signs of the MH370 aircraft, from debris to traces of leftover fuel, in the southern Indian Ocean, 1800 km off the west coast of Australia. Upon detecting any "unusual" signs, the vessel will conduct a more thorough analysis and activate its cameras. The GO Phoenix is known to be able to conduct continuous searches for 12 days before returning to shore for refueling.

The search also received assistance from experts who had previously worked on the Air France AF447 Atlantic air crash between Rio and Paris in June 2009.

However, the search is currently facing numerous difficulties because the expanded search area is far from the mainland and has been largely unexplored. At the same time, those participating in the search will have to endure constant cold, strong winds from the Antarctic, and even large waves that can reach up to 12 meters in height.

Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8th while flying over the sea between Malaysia and Vietnam, carrying 239 passengers and crew. To date, the cause of its disappearance remains unexplained. Australia has spent between A$60,000,000 and A$90,000,000 (approximately €40,000,000 to €60,000,000) on the search for the aircraft, making it the most expensive search in aviation history.
