(Baonghean.vn) - Seven months after the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 for unknown reasons, on Monday, October 6, the search for traces of the ill-fated plane is still continuing in the Indian Ocean - where the plane is believed to have crashed.

On October 6, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) said that “the GO Phoenix ship has arrived in the search area in the southern Indian Ocean and has begun its search for the missing plane MH370”. The ASTB also announced that the Committee is very cautious in analyzing the data to determine the location of the missing plane.

The GO Phoenix is a specialized ship that can use sonar to a depth of 5,000 m, allowing it to detect any signs of the MH370 plane, from debris to traces of fuel left in the southern Indian Ocean, located 1,800 km off the west coast of Australia. When it detects "abnormal" signs, the ship will analyze further and activate the camera. It is known that the GO Phoenix can conduct continuous searches for 12 days before returning to shore to refuel.

The search also received help from experts who worked on the Atlantic crash of Air France AF447 from Rio to Paris in June 2009.

However, the search is currently facing many difficulties because the extended search area is far from the mainland and has hardly been studied. At the same time, the searchers will have to endure the cold accompanied by strong winds from the Antarctic and even large waves that can be up to 12 meters high.

Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8 while flying over the sea between Malaysia and Vietnam, carrying 239 passengers and crew. To this day, no one has been able to explain the cause of the disappearance of this flight. Australia has spent between 60,000,000 and 90,000,000 Australian dollars (about 40,000,000 - 60,000,000 euros) to search for the plane. And this is considered the most expensive search in the history of the aviation industry.
