Respectfully bowing and offering incense to the heroic martyrs at Hang Duong Martyrs Cemetery - Con Dao island district, the delegation of the Command of Region 2 together with reporters and journalists reviewed the indomitable fighting tradition of the previous generations.
Although the prison regime of the French colonialists and the American imperialists was harsh, with brutal imprisonment and torture, hundreds of thousands of revolutionary soldiers and patriots of many generations turned “Hell on Earth” into a revolutionary school. In Con Dao, there were over 20,000 martyrs who sacrificed heroically. Currently, in Hang Duong cemetery, only 1,921 graves have been found, of which only 713 have their names and hometowns identified.
At Hang Duong cemetery, the graves of the late General Secretary Le Hong Phong, from Hung Thong commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An, who sacrificed his life on September 6, 1942, are solemnly restored. Comrade Le Hong Phong's example of loyalty and devotion to the country and people was followed by generations of revolutionary soldiers imprisoned in Con Dao. Although his grave was destroyed many times by the imperialists, generations of revolutionary soldiers rebuilt it... The grave of martyr Vo Thi Sau - a heroine from the red soil of Ba Ria Vung Tau, respectfully called "Miss Sau" by the islanders - is built of granite, located on the left side of the central area of Hang Duong cemetery...

Hang Duong Martyrs Cemetery, along with other historical sites in Con Dao, has been ranked as a special national monument (for the second time). This is a sacred land that marks the heroic and resilient struggles of heroes, revolutionary soldiers and people in the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, and is a “red address” for educating the revolutionary tradition for the younger generations.
