Vietnam quarantines 2 Chinese passengers with fever coming from strange pneumonia outbreak area
On the morning of January 14, Vietnam's infectious disease surveillance system detected two fever cases from Wuhan, Hubei (China) through remote body temperature measuring devices.
According to Mr. Dang Quang Tan - Deputy Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine, the two cases were on the same flight from Wuhan city, landing at Da Nang international airport at 2:30 am on January 14.
The first case is a male (born in 1997), whose temperature was recorded by a remote thermometer as having a fever of 39 degrees. The second case is a male (born in 2016), whose fever was recorded as 37.5 degrees when he went to complete immigration procedures at the border gate.
Immediately afterwards, the two passengers were transferred to a temporary isolation room for a preliminary examination, then transferred to the hospital's isolation area for monitoring. Currently, the fever of the two patients has decreased and their health is normal.

After detecting 2 cases from Wuhan with fever symptoms recorded at Da Nang airport, the Ministry of Health organized a working group to Da Nang city to grasp the situation as well as direct the inspection and response work in Da Nang.
The Ministry of Health directed the Da Nang Department of Health to screen and isolate these cases, and filter the list of close contacts for monitoring. Currently, none of the 20 cases that came into close contact have shown any abnormal health signs.

Mr. Dang Quang Tan also added: There are currently direct flights from Wuhan to 3 cities in Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa).
As of January 15, Vietnam has not recorded any cases of infection caused by the new coronavirus.
To proactively prevent and combat acute pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus strain in Wuhan city, the Ministry of Health recommends that people and the community take the following measures:
1. Limit direct contact with people with acute respiratory infections; when necessary to contact with sick people, wear a medical mask properly and keep a distance when in contact.
2. Keep your body warm, practice personal hygiene, wash your hands regularly with soap, and gargle with mouthwash to prevent pneumonia.
3. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, preferably with a tissue or handkerchief to reduce the spread of respiratory secretions.
4. Limit close contact with animal farms or wild animals.
5. People returning from Wuhan City, Hubei Province (China) or having close contact with people with pneumonia in Wuhan City within 14 days, if showing signs of fever, cough, difficulty breathing, should immediately go to the nearest medical facility for timely consultation, examination and treatment.
