Vietnam spends more than 5.4 million USD per day importing fruit near Tet
Thailand still holds the top position in Vietnam's fruit import market with a turnover of nearly 73 million USD in January 2018.
Updated data from the General Department of Customs shows that in January 2018, Vietnam spent more than 167 million USD importing fruits from various markets, an increase of 70% over the same period. On average, Vietnamese people spend nearly 5.4 million USD per day importing fruits of all kinds from other countries, equivalent to over 124 billion VND.
Thailand remained Vietnam’s largest fruit and vegetable import market in January 2018, with nearly 73 million USD (nearly 1,700 billion VND). Next was China with nearly 39 million USD (nearly 900 billion VND) and the US with approximately 19 million USD (over 430 billion VND).

Some other countries such as Korea, Australia... are also familiar fruit import markets for Vietnamese people with diverse products such as apples, pears, kiwis...
Although an agricultural country, in the past 2 years, Vietnam has spent a lot of money to import vegetables and fruits from abroad to serve domestic consumption. From 200 million USD per year, the import turnover of this item has now reached 1 billion USD.
