Vietnam hosted the International Chemistry Olympiad in 2014.
According to the plan for organizing the 46th International Chemistry Olympiad in Vietnam in 2014 (abbreviated as IChO 2014), recently approved by the Prime Minister.approveThe 46th International Chemistry Olympiad will take place from July 20-29, 2014 in Hanoi.
IChO 2014 was organized with the participation of approximately 80 delegations from 80 countries and territories around the world. Each delegation consisted of 9 members, including the delegation leader, students, and observers.
The organization of IChO 2014 will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the current IChO Statutes; the regulations of the International Chemistry Olympiad Council for the host country; and the laws of Vietnam.
The Prime Minister requested that the organization of exam question drafting, invigilation, marking, awarding prizes, and carrying out necessary procedures for IChO 2014 be conducted in accordance with the IChO Regulations and the regulations of the International Council for the host country; and that the selection, training, and employment of professional staff be organized to ensure they meet the standards and qualifications as stipulated in the IChO Regulations.
The National Steering Committee for IChO 2014 is chaired by the Minister of Education and Training; the Deputy Minister of Education and Training serves as the permanent Vice-Chair.
IChO 2014 was organized to encourage the learning and teaching of Chemistry in schools. In addition, it contributed to identifying, nurturing, and training talented students in Chemistry and to effectively implement the foreign policy and integration principles of the Party and State.
Previously, in 2011, the Vietnamese student team participating in the International Chemistry Olympiad won 2 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals.
