Vietnam promotes culture and tourism in the Russian Federation
From June 24 to July 2, 2014, in the three cities of Moscow, St Petersburg and Yaroslavl (Russian Federation), the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with the General Department of Tourism and a number of related units organized the program "Vietnamese Cultural Days in the Russian Federation" in 2014 to introduce and promote the beauty of Vietnamese culture to Russian tourists and international friends, and at the same time promote cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
The opening ceremony of “Vietnamese Cultural Days in the Russian Federation” will take place at 7:00 p.m. on June 25, 2014 at the Trade Union House (Moscow) with the participation of Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh, Russian Minister of Culture and senior officials of the two countries. At the opening ceremony, the Vietnamese delegation will bring special traditional music and dance performances, perform typical techniques of Vovinam martial arts and display traditional costumes of Vietnamese ethnic groups.

Within the framework of the event, many rich and diverse cultural and tourism activities were also organized, notably the exhibition of traditional Vietnamese lacquer paintings at the Moscow State Museum of Oriental Art with exhibits on the beauty of nature and people of Vietnam and “Vietnamese Film Days in Russia” introducing outstanding Vietnamese cinematographic works to the Russian public. In addition, delegates participating in the cultural exchange program between Russia and Vietnam on this occasion also had the opportunity to exchange views at a roundtable conference on bilateral cooperation in the field of literature, the organization of translation and promotion of Russian literature in Vietnam and Vietnamese literature in Russia, as well as measures to strengthen cultural relations between the two countries.
In particular, on June 26, at the Universe Hotel (Moscow), the General Department of Tourism will organize a roadshow to introduce and promote Vietnam's tourism potential to Russian tourism businesses and press and media. In 2013, Vietnam welcomed and served 298,126 Russian visitors (an increase of 171.1% compared to 2012). The roadshow is an opportunity for Vietnam to promote and advertise tourism, contributing to attracting more and more Russian visitors to Vietnam, striving to achieve the goal of welcoming about 400,000 Russian visitors in 2014.
Over the years, the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation has been continuously strengthened. The two countries regularly organize cultural exchange activities as well as cooperation programs to train officials and experts in the fields of culture, arts and tourism. In particular, "Vietnamese Cultural Days in Russia" as well as "Russian Cultural Days in Vietnam" are considered major cultural events, contributing to consolidating the good relationship between the people of the two countries, while enhancing cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
