Vietnam wins first prize in an international photography competition.
Vietnamese photographer Tran Vinh Nghia won first prize in the amateur photography category of the 2nd "Proving We Can End Poverty" photo contest.
The first prize in the professional category went to Indian photographer Prakash Hatvalne, and Pakistani photographer Agha Rizwan Ali won the "People's Choice" award.
The first prize-winning photograph was taken by photographer Tran Vinh Nghia.

The photo contest, co-sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the AFP Foundation of the French news agency AFP, and Olympus Corporation, attracted 1,400 photographers from various countries who submitted 3,000 photos.
The judging panel awarded 22 prizes and honorary certificates to the contestants.
Two Vietnamese photographers, Quoc Nguyen and Thanh Hai, received Honorable Mentions in the amateur and professional photography categories, respectively.
On the evening of September 15th, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on behalf of UNDP and its sponsors, Ms. Helen Clark, UNDP Administrator, personally presented the first prize of the 2010 Photo Contest to Vietnamese photographer Tran Vinh Nghia and two photographers from India and Pakistan.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Helen Clark said that this year's photo contest helped affirm that the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are not abstract but are actually changing people's lives completely.
She hopes that through practical and positive actions, more and more people around the world will enthusiastically contribute to these efforts.
