Vietnam wins Bronze Medal at WorldSkills Competition
Candidate Nguyen Ba Phuoc excellently won the Bronze Medal in Information Technology Software Solutions.
Following the success of the 43rd WorldSkills Competition in 2015, on October 19, once again, the Vietnamese flag was flown with the world powers at the Award Ceremony of the 44th WorldSkills Competition in 2017 at the Abu Dhabi Capital Arena of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This year's competition had 1,259 candidates from 68 countries and territories around the world competing in 51 professions with the fiercest competition in history. Candidate Nguyen Ba Phuoc won the Bronze Medal in Information Technology Software Solutions, and candidate Nguyen Van Tuan also won the Certificate of Excellence in CAD Mechanical Engineering Design.

Nguyen Ba Phuoc was the only contestant from the Vietnamese delegation to win a medal. Nguyen Van Tuan was one of five contestants from the Vietnamese delegation to win the Certificate of Vocational Excellence and was the contestant with the highest total score for the certificate. This is the second time Vietnam has won a Bronze medal at the WorldSkills Competition.
Nguyen Van Tuan and Nguyen Ba Phuoc were two candidates selected by Samsung from the 2016 Vietnam National Skills Competition, then sent to Samsung WorldSkills Training Center for training for 15 months, from July 2016 to September 2017. During their training in Korea, Nguyen Van Tuan and Nguyen Ba Phuoc were systematically trained in each stage with coaches who had won medals at world skills competitions.

The two Vietnamese candidates were not only trained in general skills such as planning - doing exercises - analyzing problems - checking the final result, but also trained in other diverse skills that are very necessary in the actual exam such as SWOT analysis, how to organize and operate the match, information strategy, code of conduct, control of reason, strategy to deal with dangerous situations, communication...
In 2015, at the World Skills Competition held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, contestant Nguyen Duy Thanh, competing in IT Software Solutions, achieved the highest achievement in the history of Vietnam's participation from previous years with a Bronze Medal. The remaining contestant, Nguyen Duc Thanh, competing in CAD Mechanical Engineering Design, also won a certificate of excellence.
