Vietnam welcomes positive developments on the Korean peninsula
Within the framework of the 51st ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings, on August 3, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh met with North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh affirmed that the Party, State and People of Vietnam attach importance to and wish to consolidate and promote the traditional friendship with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Welcoming the positive developments on the Korean Peninsula, especially the results achieved at the recent summits between North Korea, South Korea and the United States, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh hopes that relevant parties will continue to maintain dialogue to ensure peace, stability and cooperation on the Korean Peninsula as well as in the region and the world.
DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho highly appreciated the friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, thanked the valuable assistance that the Party, State and People of Vietnam had given to DPRK in the past, especially Vietnam's aid of tens of thousands of tons of rice to overcome food shortages in DPRK in the 1990s.
Affirming North Korea's commitment to the denuclearization process of the Korean Peninsula, Mr. Ri Yong Ho emphasized his desire to bring the relationship between the two countries to new heights in the coming time./.
