Vietnam and Indonesia agree to bring bilateral turnover to 10 billion USD
The two leaders agreed to create new breakthroughs and make economic cooperation a key pillar of the Strategic Partnership.
At the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit Indonesia.
This morning, October 12, in Bali, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held talks with the President of Indonesia. Immediately after the talks, the two leaders informed the international press about the successful results of the talks.

Speaking at a press conference, President Joko Widodo said: "Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and I had a bilateral meeting. Not long ago, I met with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi. This reflects the extensive bilateral relationship based on the Indonesia-Vietnam strategic partnership. I would like to thank the Prime Minister of Vietnam for his attention to Indonesian investors in Vietnam. I appreciate the cooperation and overcoming obstacles in exporting cars to Vietnam. I hope Indonesian businessmen will explore opportunities in the new market of Vietnam for products in the pharmaceutical and medical equipment sectors. We also discussed solutions to promote cooperation on combating illegal fishing signed in Hanoi that will take effect immediately."
Speaking at the press conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that following President Joko Widodo's State visit to Vietnam last September, his visit to Indonesia this time demonstrates the trust, warmth and determination of the two countries' governments, bringing the strategic partnership to stronger and deeper development.
“We agreed to create a new breakthrough and make economic cooperation a key pillar of the Strategic Partnership, striving to soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 10 billion USD in a balanced direction; further facilitate business-business, business-Government dialogue mechanisms, support small and medium enterprises; and promptly resolve arising problems. Today, having received a number of Indonesian enterprises, Vietnam continued to remove difficulties and promote investment activities of enterprises in Vietnam,” said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
The Prime Minister said that he and President Widodo agreed to strengthen maritime cooperation and promote the early establishment of a maritime cooperation agency to discuss substantive cooperation in scientific research, marine environmental protection, fisheries development, sustainable aquaculture, and protection of fishermen. The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in other potential areas such as agriculture, human resources, and tourism, including considering the possibility of expanding air routes connecting tourist destinations between the two countries.
The Prime Minister also said that Vietnam and Indonesia affirmed their commitment to closer cooperation, seizing opportunities for development cooperation, and continuing to build a united, innovative, creative, self-reliant ASEAN community that plays a central role in the regional structure.
The two sides emphasized the importance of peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, and the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, and proper implementation of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
With the positive cooperation results achieved in recent times, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc believes that the strategic partnership between the two countries will develop more deeply./.
