Vietnam has no universities in Asia's top 350
The National University of Singapore ranked first for the third consecutive year in a ranking of more than 350 universities from 25 countries and territories.

According to the annual Times Higher Education (THE) rankings, the National University of Singapore ranked first in Asia in 2018. This is the third consecutive time that the island nation's university has been rated highest for its teaching and research environment, high number of scientific citations and increased income.
Japan is once again the most represented country on the list with 89 schools.. Of which, Tokyo University ranks 8th in Asia and 46th in the world.
China has 63 universities in the rankings. Tsinghua University has overtaken Peking University to become the best educational institution in China for the first time in six years of the ranking. Tsinghua has more publications than Peking and its research income has also grown significantly.

Hong Kong has three universities in the top 10 and six in the top 60.In Southeast Asia, Malaysia's University of Malaya entered the top 50 for the first time. Indonesia doubled its representation from last year, from two to four.
Most of Thailand’s 10 universities fell in the rankings, as the country struggles with an aging population and a surplus of higher education institutions. Taiwan has also seen its universities fall in the rankings for similar reasons.
India, Pakistan, South Korea and Türkiye all increased their representation, but several of them ranked lower than previous years.
