Up 24 places compared to last year in the ranking of the most livable countries in the world, this is truly a good thing for our country Vietnam.

This year's survey by the InterNations website announced a surprising result when Vietnam strongly rose 24 places (last year Vietnam was ranked 35th out of 64 surveyed countries) to enter the top 10 most livable countries in the world.

Amazing right!

Evaluation criteria for ranking the most livable countries in the world

So what are the criteria for ranking a livable country and what are the reasons that Vietnam can rise strongly to rank 11th?

The website InterNations surveyed 14,000 individuals who live, work and study abroad. They were then asked about their ideal country to live and work in, where they feel most comfortable.

Survey participants will rank the surveyed countries according to the above criteria. Based on that, InterNations will synthesize and provide a list of country rankings.

More specifically, the criteria given are:

1. Comfort when settling in a country or territory

Việt Nam là quốc gia an toàn cho khách du lịch.
Vietnam is a safe country for tourists.

Friendliness, hospitality, ease of making friends and stability are what foreigners appreciate very much in Vietnam, we ranked 9th in terms of friendliness to foreigners.

"Vietnamese people are kind, thoughtful, helpful, and also quite humorous. Life here is quite good, it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever lived." That is the surveyor's assessment when talking about Vietnam.

The majority of respondents (84%) felt the hospitality and friendliness of Vietnamese people.

2. Quality of life

Người Việt Nam rất thân thiện.
Vietnamese people are very friendly.

Although not among the top countries with high quality of life (Vietnam only ranked 42nd), the ranking shows that Vietnamese people have a high level of happiness (ranked 8th).

3. Personal expenses

The cost of living in Vietnam ranked 4th among the surveyed countries, and is considered a "pleasant" country for tourists and foreigners.

Ẩm thực là yếu tố không thể thiếu ở mỗi quốc gia lý tưởng.
Cuisine is an indispensable element in every ideal country.

4. Working environment (job criteria)

If last year, we were in a fairly high position of 36, this year, this position has changed a lot (up to 12), which shows that our working environment has improved significantly. According to the assessment, Vietnam is a country where it is easy for foreigners to find work.

5. Ability to stabilize and integrate

Cảnh quan thanh bình hấp dẫn du khách.
The peaceful landscape attracts tourists.

Vietnam also rose from 35th to 29th place compared to last year. Vietnam is a safe and friendly destination (ranked first in Business Insider's survey of 30 Southeast Asian countries).

Last year, The Economist magazine (UK) ranked Ho Chi Minh City in the top 50 safest cities for tourists.

Business Insider Survey

Last year, a survey by Business Insider also showed that Vietnam was in the top 20 most livable countries in the world. But based on other evaluation criteria (life experience, economy, environment and living standards of the people).

Accordingly, we "surpassed" countries famous for their high living standards such as Japan, Belgium,... to rise to 16th place.

Chi phí giao thông phụ hợp với khách du lịch.
Transportation costs are suitable for tourists.

The biggest plus point of Vietnam is the beautiful natural scenery, diverse cuisine, and a rich lifestyle (transportation, accommodation, entertainment...) that is affordable for most foreigners and tourists.

Up to 87% of surveyed tourists expressed their interest in Vietnamese street food, placing Vietnam in third place in terms of cuisine.

The most popular dishes among tourists include: pho, banh mi, bun cha, nem ran, etc. If we improve the quality of medical services and the quality of child care (a big minus that puts us at the bottom of the list in this criterion), we can absolutely reach higher rankings.

Top 20 most livable countries in the world (according to Business Insider's ranking):

Switzerland, Singapore, China, Germany, Bahrain, New Zealand, Thailand, Taiwan, India, Hong Kong, Canada, Australia, Qatar, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Russia, Japan, Malaysia, Belgium.
