On April 19, in response to China's April 18 announcement of the establishment of the so-called "Xisha District" (Vietnam's Hoang Sa archipelago) and "Nansha District" (Vietnam's Truong Sa archipelago) in "Sansha City," Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said that Vietnam has repeatedly strongly affirmed that Vietnam has sufficient historical evidence and legal basis to assert its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

Vietnam's consistent stance is to strongly oppose the establishment of the so-called "Sansha city" and related actions because they seriously violate Vietnam's sovereignty, are invalid and unrecognized, are not beneficial to friendly relations between countries, and further complicate the situation in the East Sea, the region and the world.

Vietnam demands that China respect Vietnam's sovereignty, cancel wrong decisions related to those actions and not do similar actions in the future./.
