Vietnam interested in Koalitsiya-SV wheeled self-propelled artillery?

Aiming at potential customers as well as diversifying combat forms, the wheeled version of the 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled gun has been officially launched.

Earlier this year, the external structural drawings of the Koalitsiya-SV-KSh wheeled self-propelled gun were published by Russia in the media, which is essentially a tracked Koalitsiya-SV but mounted on a KamAZ 6560 8x8 truck chassis.

The combat module of the Koalitsiya-SV is still intact, of course the technical and tactical features have not changed, typically possessing an advanced fire control system, a rate of fire of up to 16 rounds/minute through an automatic loader.

Equipped with a 152 mm 2A88 gun that can fire extended-range guided rounds, the 2S35 can destroy targets at a distance of up to 70 km, or 40 km for regular bullets. In particular, in one test, the Koalitsiya-SV lowered its barrel and accurately fired straight at melons placed 250 m away from the gun.

Drawings of the Koalitsiya-SV-KSh self-propelled gun appeared in Russian media a few months ago.

According to initial information, the turret module of Koalitsiya-SV-KSh is fully automatic, firing can be performed remotely, the time to switch from marching to combat status requires only 1.5 minutes.

From drawing to prototype manufacturing, the Koalitsiya-SV-KSh wheeled self-propelled gun has promptly added two extremely remarkable complexes.

The first is the artillery reconnaissance radar mounted right at the base of the cannon, which has the function of tracking the trajectory of the fired projectile to align for the next shots, and at the same time collects data on the firing position of enemy artillery to quickly return fire.

Next, the Koalitsiya-SV-KSh gun is also integrated with an active defense system on the turret roof next to the old-style camouflaged smoke grenade launchers, ensuring the safety of the combat crew when attacked by RPG-style anti-tank grenade launchers.

With the above technical and tactical characteristics and especially aiming at the export market (the Russian Army prefers to use tracked self-propelled artillery chassis), it can be predicted that Russia wants to attack the segment that Western products such as CAESAR of France or ATMOS 2000... of Israel are dominating.

In the process of modernizing the army, Vietnam really needs a new generation of self-propelled artillery. We have been interested in CAESAR, but it is highly likely that this project will be difficult to realize, similar to SIGMA 9814.

If so, Vietnam may return to its traditional partners to find suitable products. Previously, Russia did not have products that met Vietnam's requirements, but according to the latest developments, Koalitsiya-SV-KSh may become the leading candidate.
