Vietnam successfully produces friend-foe distinguishing machine

According to PK-KQ newspaper, the Air Defense - Air Force Technical Institute (PK-KQ) has completed the design and manufacture of the IFF-VN friend-foe distinction system.

The task of "Designing and manufacturing the IFF-VN system to distinguish friend or foe" was carried out in 2 phases. Phase 1 was implemented from October 2014 to December 2015 with the content of designing and manufacturing 1 MH-VN1 ground interrogator and 1 MTL-VN2 transponder installed on helicopters (Mi-17).

At the same time, design and manufacture a security recognition system including 1 key generating and storing device, 10 key carrying devices, 4 key loading devices, 3 security modules; 2 security recognition devices 6110-VN1, 1 security recognition device 6110-VN2.

The products of phase 1 have been accepted by the Air Defense - Air Force Service and the Ministry of National Defense and confirmed to be of sufficient quantity, correct type according to regulations, and of satisfactory quality.

Afterwards, the General Staff decided to put these products into military equipment for units of the Air Defense - Air Force Service and the Cryptography Department (BTTM).

Phase 2 of the Mission was carried out from January 2016 to August 2017 with the content of designing and manufacturing MH-VN1 interrogators synchronously equipped with P-18M Radar, EL/M-2288-ER long-range Radar; MH-VN3 interrogators, MTL-VN3 transponders synchronously equipped for Navy ships; MTL-VN2 transponders installed on helicopters and Su-22M4 aircraft.

At the same time, manufacture a security recognition system including key generation and storage devices, key carriers, key loading devices, security modules; security recognition devices 6110-VN1.

The 6110-VN2 security identification device is equipped for the 6231P interrogator, the 6202P transponder of the Russian Parol system installed on the Su-30MK2 aircraft and the 76E6 interrogator of the Russian Parol system installed synchronously with the Kasta-2E, 36D6, 96L6E radar stations; design and manufacture 1 interrogator check device and 1 transponder check device to serve technical assurance work.

At the same time, the Institute has completed the compilation of a set of exploitation and usage documents and technological documents for mass production.

After completing the design and manufacturing, the phase 2 products were accepted by the Navy. The accepted products include the MH-VN3 interrogator and MTL-VN3 transponder installed on Navy ships; the MH-VN1 interrogator paired with the P-18M and EL/M-2288 radar stations.

At the same time, the Flight Test Council of the Air Force organized a test flight (combined with training flights) of the MTL-VN2 transponder installed on the Su-22M4 aircraft. The test flight results showed that the MTL-VN2 transponder worked well in all modes.

The Army's testing council also organized a test flight of the 6110-VN2 device installed on the Su-30MK2 aircraft and showed that the device connected well with the 6202P interrogator; the interrogation system worked properly in all modes; the product had technical parameters guaranteed according to approved features, and the device worked well in sync with the 76E6 interrogator of the Kasta-2E radar station.

On November 22, 2017, the Ministry of National Defense's Acceptance Council conducted a comprehensive acceptance of the task of "Designing and manufacturing the IFF-VN friend-foe discrimination system".

The Ministry of National Defense's Acceptance Council highly appreciated the efforts and attempts of the Air Defense - Air Force Technical Institute in implementing the task of "Designing and manufacturing the IFF-VN friend-enemy discrimination system" to ensure compliance with the approved tactical, technical and technical design features.

The products have been successfully tested in harsh and high temperature, humidity and environmental conditions.
