Vietnam will soon have a National Defense Television Channel.
This event marks a new stage of development in military journalism, meeting the information requirements for national defense in the new situation.
To commemorate the 123rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth, the Vietnam National Defense Television channel will officially launch nationwide at 8 PM on May 19th. This information was announced at a press conference held on the afternoon of May 15th in Hanoi, organized by the Ministry of National Defense.
The Vietnam National Defense Television Channel was established with the goal of developing and improving the quality and effectiveness of information, propaganda, education, and promotion regarding military and national defense tasks. The channel broadcasts continuously from 5:30 AM to midnight daily, with a total of 9 hours of new content per day.
The channel is tasked with providing comprehensive and timely information and propaganda on the guidelines, policies, and laws of the State; resolutions, directives, and decisions of the Central Military Commission; propaganda on the country's military and national defense tasks; and military and national defense foreign relations activities.

At the same time, the channel also participates in disseminating information about the country's political, economic, cultural, and social activities.
The channel focuses on reflecting the system of domestic and international defense news programs; reflecting and commenting on daily defense activities and military hotspots around the world; and presenting specialized topics and documentary films on military history and weapons in Vietnam and around the world from a military perspective.
In addition, the channel broadcasts movies and sports and entertainment news.
Major General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Head of the General Political Department, said that the channel will be broadcast with high-definition image standards on Vietnam's cable television system VCTV, Ho Chi Minh City Cable Television HTVC, Saigontourist Cable Television SCTV, etc. The synchronized signal processing equipment from pre-production to post-production and broadcasting is fully digitized and will have coverage throughout the entire territory of Vietnam.
"Vietnam National Defense Television is the mouthpiece of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, and a forum for officers and soldiers of the People's Armed Forces and the entire population," said Major General Nguyen Trong Nghia.
Mr. Nghia added: “The launch and official broadcasting of the channel is a very important event, marking a new stage of development in the country's and the military's journalistic activities, meeting the increasingly high demands for information on military and national defense tasks and protecting the homeland in the new situation. At the same time, it comprehensively reflects the work of training and combat readiness; building a revolutionary, regular, and progressively modern army.”
