The measles-rubella combination vaccine is produced by the Center for Research and Production of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals in Hanoi using Japanese technology.

It is expected that in March 2018, the measles-rubella combination vaccine produced by the Center for Research and Production of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals in Hanoi (POLYVAC) will be put into use in Vietnam's expanded immunization program.

This information was given during the visit and work at POLYVAC of JICA's Goodwill Ambassador in Vietnam, actress Lan Phuong.

Here, actress Lan Phuong was introduced to the Center's activities, especially the cooperation programs of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with the Center over the years.

Lan Phuong visited the measles vaccine factory with the guidance of POLYVAC Director - Mr. Nguyen Dang Hien.
The visit helped the actress better understand the Center's measles and measles-rubella vaccine production process, and shared with the staff working at the Center about their outstanding efforts to create meaningful products to serve the community.

The measles vaccine factory was built during the 2003-2006 period with non-refundable aid from the Japanese Government, followed by the Technical Support project “Transfer of measles vaccine production technology using Japanese technology” from 2006 to 2010. Thanks to this support, POLYVAC has been completely self-sufficient in vaccine production according to the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO).

In recent years, due to the urgent need to prevent rubella, the Japanese Government has continued to support the transfer of technology to produce the measles-rubella combination vaccine to Vietnam. The implementation period is from May 2013 to May 2018.

Currently, experts from Daichi Sankyo Vaccine Company are transferring production technology to POLYVAC.

After visiting and working at POLYVAC, goodwill ambassador Lan Phuong met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, Mr. Fukada Hiroshi.

At the meeting, the actress expressed her honor to become JICA's Goodwill Ambassador in Vietnam. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary hopes that the actress will actively contribute to bringing images and information about Japan's efforts in general and JICA's activities in Vietnam in particular to the Vietnamese public./.
