Vietnam to soon operate river 'bus' technology

After more than 2 months of implementation, the bus (the first public passenger transport by water in Ho Chi Minh City) is preparing to be launched for technical operation before being put into operation.

On August 18, Mr. Nguyen Kim Toan, Director of Thuong Nhat Company Limited (project investor) said: To conduct inspection, review and evaluation of technical work and bus operation before putting into official operation, Thuong Nhat Company will organize a technical launch of the first public passenger transport route by waterway in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of August 21 at Bach Dang wharf.

According to Mr. Toan, up to this point, the river bus project (route 1 Bach Dang wharf (District 1) - Linh Dong wharf (Thu Duc district) has completed some basic items of the wharf such as floating buoys, access bridges, renovation work, etc.

Up to this point, the river bus route 1 project has completed the basic items of the station.

River bus route No. 1 connects the starting point at Bach Dang wharf (District 1) and the ending point at Linh Dong (Thu Duc district), following the Saigon River and Thanh Da canal.

Previously, river bus route No. 1 passed through 9 stations, but now it has 3 more stations: Thu Thiem station (Thu Thiem urban area, District 2), Truong Tho station (District 9) and Tan Cang station (District 2).

In addition to the two terminals, the remaining 7 terminals are Saigon Pearl (Ward 22, Binh Thanh District), Binh An (Binh An Ward, District 2), Thao Dien (Thao Dien Ward, District 2), Tam Vu (Ward 26, Binh Thanh District), Thanh Da (Ward 27, Binh Thanh District), Binh Trieu and Hiep Binh Chanh (Hiep Binh Chanh Ward, Thu Duc District).

Travel time from the first stop to the last stop is 12km long, about 30 minutes (not including entering and exiting the station), 1/3 shorter than the road bus on the same route, with a ticket price of 15,000 VND/person/trip.

During the completion process, there will be a test ship running in and out of 5 ports: Bach Dang, Binh An, Thanh Da, Hiep Binh Chanh and Linh Dong.
