Will Vietnam import Suzuki Swift from Thailand?

When Suzuki Swift quietly withdrew from the Vietnamese market in November last year, there was information about the possibility that this model would no longer be assembled but would switch to being imported completely. And this is even more likely to become a reality when the third generation of Swift has just been launched in Thailand to supply the domestic market and other countries in the ASEAN region.

Suzuki Motor Thailand has officially introduced the third-generation Swift model with starting prices from 499,000 baht to 629,000 baht (equivalent to 15,900 USD - 20,000 USD).

Suzuki Swift 2018 in Thailand will have up to 4 different versions, but they all have one thing in common: using a 1.2L Dualjet I3 gasoline engine (a two-injector type designed to achieve the highest efficiency), along with a CVT automatic transmission, with versions named: GA, GL, GLX and GLX-Navi.

The reason why this Suzuki B-class car is equipped with a small 1.2L engine is because the Thai government currently has many incentive programs for small car models, part of the plan to develop green cars in this country (capacity under 1,300cc for gasoline engines, meeting Euro 5 emission standards, fuel consumption under 4.3L/100k and emissions under 100g CO2/km).

With this 1.2L engine, Suzuki Swift achieves a maximum capacity of 82 horsepower and maximum torque of 108 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

Suzuki Swift 2018 in Thailand has some notable equipment such as LED projector headlights, automatic air conditioning, push-button start system, cruise control system, electronic body stabilization system, 6 airbags and entertainment equipment with 7-inch touch screen supporting Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link connectivity...

In some other important markets such as India, Suzuki also offers a 1.3L diesel engine version for Swift (75 horsepower, 190 Nm) and has an additional manual transmission option, not to mention launching many different versions with quite large price differences to meet more customers.
