Vietnam visits Russian Ambassador to the United Nations after sudden death

Upon hearing of the sudden death of the Russian Ambassador to the UN, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh sent a message of condolences to the Russian Foreign Minister.

Upon hearing the news on February 20 that Ambassador, Head of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin suddenly passed away, today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh sent a telegram of condolences to Russian Foreign Minister S. Lavrov.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Vitaly Churkin suddenly passed away in New York at the age of 64, just one day before his 65th birthday.

According to an official, Mr. Churkin died of a sudden heart attack while at the Russian diplomatic headquarters. Meanwhile, CNN quoted information from the Kremlin saying that President Vladimir Putin "sent condolences to friends and family and staff of the Russian Foreign Ministry."
