Vietnam has 4 more Covid-19 cases, including 2 flight attendants returning from Russia, 2 passengers from the US

By 6:00 p.m. on May 18, four more cases of Covid-19 were detected, including two flight attendants and two passengers returning from the US who were quarantined upon entry.

According to reports from the Centers for Disease Control of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, four more cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been recorded, including two flight attendants of Vietnam Airlines on flight VN0062 from Moscow (Russia) to Van Don on May 13 and two passengers on flight VN001 from Washington DC (USA) to Noi Bai International Airport on May 16. All of the above positive cases were quarantined after entering the country and there is no risk of spreading the disease to the community.

CASE 321 (BN321):Male patient, 44 years old, Vietnamese nationality, with address in Phu Nhuan district, Ho Chi Minh City. Occupation: flight attendant of Vietnam Airlines.

CASE 322 (BN322):Male patient, 39 years old, Vietnamese nationality, with address in Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City. Occupation: Flight attendant of Vietnam Airlines.

These two flight attendants flew on flight VN0062 from Moscow (Russia), landing at Van Don Airport on May 13. After completing health declaration and immigration procedures, the entire group of flight attendants returned to the plane and flew to Hanoi on a flight without passengers. At 10:00 a.m. on May 13, the flight attendants boarded flight VN7485 without passengers from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. In Ho Chi Minh City, the flight attendants were quarantined at the Vietnam Airlines accommodation area at 115 Hong Ha, Ward 2, Tan Binh District.

At the quarantine facility, Patient 321 shared a room with Patient 322. On May 14, both were tested for the first time and the result was negative. On the afternoon of May 16, Patient 321 had a fever of 38.2 degrees Celsius, and on May 17, a second sample was taken and the result was positive for SARS-CoV-2. The patient is currently being treated and isolated at Cu Chi Field Hospital.

After patient 321 had a fever (May 16), patient 322 was transferred to a room alone. On the evening of May 17, after patient 221 tested positive, patient 322 was sampled and taken to centralized quarantine at area C of the Military Academy, Cu Chi district, as a close contact. On May 18, the patient tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. The patient is currently being transferred to Cu Chi Field Hospital for treatment and quarantine.

CASE 323 (BN323):Female patient, 19 years old, address in Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City. The patient is an American student returning home on May 16 on flight VN001, seat number 41D.

CASE 324 (BN324):Male patient, 18 years old, address in Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City. The patient is an American student returning home on May 16 on flight VN001, seat number 27K.

Immediately after entering Noi Bai International Airport, the two cases and passengers on the same flight were transferred to quarantine at the National Defense and Security Education Center of Hanoi National University in Thach That District, Hanoi. Patients 323 and 324 tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on May 17. They have now been transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, branch 2, for treatment and quarantine.

From 6:00 a.m. April 16 to 6:00 p.m. May 18: 32 days Vietnam has had no community transmission cases.

As of 6:00 p.m. on May 18: Vietnam has a total of 184 imported cases that were immediately quarantined.

From 6am to 6pm on May 18, Vietnam had 4 new cases, quarantined immediately upon entry, with no risk of spreading the disease to the community.

Total number of close contacts and people entering from epidemic areas being monitored for health (quarantined): 11,326, of which:

- Concentrated isolation at hospital: 302

- Centralized quarantine at other facilities: 8,929

- Isolation at home, place of residence: 2,095

According to the report of the Treatment Subcommittee of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control:

- Number of cases testing negative for SARS-CoV-2 for the first time: 2 cases.

- Number of cases testing negative for SARS-CoV-2 twice or more: 7 cases./.
