Vietnam extends service life of Su-27/30
According to the Air Defense newspaper, the Vietnam Air Force has succeeded in extending the service life of Su-27 and Su-30 fighters.
During a visit to Factory A32 on May 15, the delegation of the Central Economic Commission and the Ministry of National Defense visited the technological line for repairing Su-22, Su-27 and Su-30 aircraft.
Information from the working session showed that in recent years, Factory A32 has successfully completed projects such as: Su-22M/UM repair technology line; Major repair technology line, increasing the total life of Su-27 aircraft, local repair of Su-30 aircraft; Specialized motorcycle repair line...

Up to now, Factory A32 can completely master the technological line for repairing Su-22 and Su-27 aircraft; performing local repairs and increasing the total life span of Su-30 aircraft.
With its current capacity, the Factory can successfully undertake the repair of Su-family fighter jets and propose to continue implementing subsequent projects such as the Su-27 and Su-30 repair project phase 3...
Thus, along with the repair, Vietnam has made great strides in successfully extending the service life of both the Su-27 and Su-30 - the most modern fighter jets currently in the Vietnam Air Force.
The repair and upgrade of fighter aircraft is carried out by Workshop 6 of Factory A32. Captain, Engineer Dinh Van Hoan said: "Workshop 6 is the place for general assembly, testing, and test flights for Su-27 aircraft. In addition, the Workshop also does local repairs, increases the shelf life of Foam (fire-proofing agent for fighter aircraft's oil tanks) and mobile repairs of Su aircraft cockpit covers for units".
Currently, the unit has many technical innovations such as Su-27 engine flow direction testing machine; New manufacturing of hydraulic pressure generator; Disassembly vehicle, engine disassembly tool kit. The workshop has worked with units in the Factory to repair and increase the total service life and successfully test flight for Su-27 aircraft number 8526; increase the service life for 10 Su-27 aircraft.
In addition, the factory also repaired and enhanced the fuel system on 4 Su-30 aircraft and fixed many failures of other types of aircraft.
The successful extension of the service life and upgrade of fighter jets demonstrates Vietnam's outstanding level, however, it is not surprising because as early as 2016, the Russian defense news site VPK reported that Vietnam would repair and upgrade Su-27 and Su-30 fighters at a new factory in Da Nang.
Accordingly, Vietnam is building capacity for basic maintenance and repair of Su-27 and Su-30 fighters, to avoid sending aircraft abroad. "In-country repair and upgrade of aircraft will significantly increase the operational readiness of fighter aircraft," the Russian newspaper said.
