Vietnam and Australia strengthen cooperation in digital transformation and digital economy
Vietnam and Australia agreed to implement many cooperation programs and activities, opening a new chapter in cooperation on digital transformation and digital economy between the two countries.
During his working visit to Australia, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung worked with ministries, management agencies and leading Australian ICT enterprises to promote cooperation between the two countries on digital transformation and digital economy.
At the working session with Australian Minister for Digital Economy Don Farrell, the two sides discussed the situation and development orientation of each country, the capabilities and priorities to promote bilateral cooperation.
The two Ministers agreed to allocate resources to expand cooperation in the digital economy, ICT industry, information security and digital human resource development. These will be key areas in the cooperation strategy between Vietnam and Australia in the coming period.

During the visit and working session with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), Minister Nguyen Manh Hung discussed with the ACMA Chairman about experience in policy making, management and development of telecommunications, frequencies, broadcasting and electronic information.
Australia is the first country in the world to enact the Media Bargaining Act, which requires major social media platforms such as Google and Facebook to reach agreements on revenue sharing with Australian content producers.

Regarding digital transformation, at the working session with the delegation, the Chairman of the Australian Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) shared Australia's experience in implementing the national digital transformation strategy, in investing, appraising, approving, and evaluating the effectiveness of digital transformation projects of the Australian Government.
DTA is an agency responsible for coordinating, supervising, and urging the implementation of digital transformation projects using the budget, as well as organizing training, coaching, and improving digital skills for officials of state agencies in charge of digital transformation.

During the working sessions, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and leaders of relevant Australian ministries and agencies agreed to implement many cooperation programs and activities, opening a new chapter in the cooperation relationship on digital transformation and digital economy between the two countries. Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Nguyen Tat Thanh participated in the working sessions of the delegation.
