Vietnam and Cuba enhance cooperation in agriculture, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals

This is one of many contents agreed upon by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz during talks at the Cuban Government Headquarters, Havana, on the afternoon of September 18 (local time).

First Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz highly appreciated and thanked the multifaceted assistance of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to Cuba, especially in the context that Cuba is facing many difficulties due to the US's increased embargo.

Comrade Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz said that the Cuba - Vietnam relationship is developing very well, demonstrated through many visits between the two countries in the past and in the coming time; affirmed the desire to further improve the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms between the two countries through the Party, National Assembly and Government channels, as well as the desire to have more investment projects of Cuban enterprises in Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and First Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz spent a lot of time discussing specific measures to continue promoting comprehensive, substantive and effective cooperation between the two countries.

This includes continuing to coordinate to promote delegation exchanges and high-level contacts as well as between ministries/sectors and businesses, further strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations.

The two Deputy Prime Ministers also said that the two sides need to strengthen coordination to implement the results of the recent G77 and China Summit, especially in science, technology and innovation.

At the same time, efforts will be made to further enhance economic-trade-investment cooperation, especially effectively implementing aquaculture projects, corn development, rice production, and strengthening cooperation in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, thereby contributing to further tightening the special political relationship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
