According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), by the end of June, Vietnam's rice exports reached 3.485 million tons, worth $1.575 billion.

According to the Association, the current price of dried paddy rice at warehouses in the Mekong Delta region ranges from 5,000 to 5,100 VND/kg for regular varieties and 5,200 to 5,300 VND/kg for long-grain varieties. The price of raw rice for producing 5% broken rice is currently around 6,450 to 6,550 VND/kg depending on the locality, while the price of raw rice for producing 25% broken rice is 6,100 to 6,200 VND/kg depending on quality and location. The price of finished 5% broken rice (unpackaged) is currently around 7,450 to 7,550 VND/kg, 15% broken rice is 7,100 to 7,200 VND/kg, and 25% broken rice is around 6,850 to 6,950 VND/kg depending on quality and location.

According to Oryza, China also expects​Imports will continue to be strong in the coming months due to concerns about excessive cadmium contamination in rice in some of the country's key rice-growing provinces and the higher price of domestic rice compared to imported rice from countries such as Vietnam and Pakistan.

China's rice import demand for 2013-2014 is projected to remain high, at around 3 million tons.
