Hanoi ranked second and Ho Chi Minh City ranked sixth in the list of 10 cities with the cheapest hotel room prices.

The famous travel website Hotels.com has just published a list of cities with the most expensive and cheapest hotel rooms in the world. The two big cities of Vietnam, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, are both in the top 10 destinations with the cheapest rooms. In 2013, the price of a hotel room in Hanoi for one night was 65.2 USD, down 20% compared to 2012 (81.9 USD). In Ho Chi Minh City, tourists will spend 95.3 USD for one night of hotel accommodation, down 2% compared to last year (98.6 USD).

The remaining eight cities in the super-cheap top are Phnom Penh (ranked first) with a room cost of $55 per night. Siem Reap is third with a room cost of $70.20. Two Thai cities, Chiang Mai (ranked fourth) ($76.90) and Pattaya (ranked fifth) ($76.90). Four cities share the positions from six to ten: Riga ($102), Bangkok ($102), Krakow ($103.60) and Vilnius ($107).

The most expensive place in the world for hotel accommodation in 2013 was Monte Carlo, Monaco, with an average price of 331.1 USD/night. Muscat, Oman, came in second with 324.4 USD/night. New York, USA, came in third with 309 USD and Key West was fourth with 285.9 USD. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, came in fifth with 279.2 USD. The remaining five cities in the top 10 were Cancun (265.9 USD), Moscow (259.2 USD), Boston (252.5 USD), Cannes (252.5 USD) and Geneva (250.8 USD).
