Robocon Vietnam won the championship at the 2014 Asia-Pacific Regional Student Robot Competition held at the Balewadi Arena (Pune, India).

Mr. Lam Thanh Hien, Vice Rector of Lac Hong University (Dong Nai), made this announcement on the evening of August 24th, from India.

This year's competition features 18 teams from 17 countries and territories, including: Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Egypt, Fiji, Iran, Mongolia, Nepal, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Russia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam (with two teams from host country India).

The Lac Hong University Robocon team represents Vietnam, and this is the 5th consecutive time Lac Hong has participated in the regional competition after winning the national championship repeatedly.

According to Mr. Hien, based on the achievements of previous years, the Organizing Committee placed the Vietnamese team among the six seeded teams. On the day of the competition, Vietnam was the only team among the 18 teams to achieve a perfect record in all matches. Vietnam excelled in the group stage, then defeated Egypt in the quarterfinals, Indonesia in the semifinals, and the defending champion Japan in the final in just 47 seconds out of 180 seconds, officially claiming the championship title amidst overwhelming joy.

The Robocon competition, organized annually for the past 13 years by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Association, is for engineering students in the region. Vietnam, represented by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), won the competition in 2002, 2004, and 2006. Since then, the championship has mostly gone to China and Japan.

From 2010 to the present, Lac Hong University has consistently represented Vietnam in the regional finals of the competition, but it wasn't until August 24th that Lac Hong University truly triumphed, bringing glory to the nation. Prior to that, in 2010, Lac Hong won second prize in Egypt. In 2011, in Thailand, Lac Hong won third prize. In 2013, in Hong Kong, Lac Hong won second prize, and in 2013, in Da Nang (Vietnam), Lac Hong won second prize.
