"Vietnam is extremely indignant and strongly condemns the act of killing and injuring many innocent Vietnamese people, and requests that Egypt promptly open an investigation, track down and appropriately punish those who caused this terrorist attack," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said today about the bombing of a bus carrying Vietnamese tourists in Cairo.

"Vietnam calls on governments and people of all countries to unite against terrorism in an uncompromising manner, to build a peaceful life and safe and free travel for honest people around the world," the spokesman emphasized.

A car carrying 18 people, including 15 Vietnamese citizens and three Egyptians, was traveling through Cairo's Al-Haram district on December 28, near the Giza pyramid complex, when a roadside bomb exploded 5-6 meters away. Four people were killed, including three Vietnamese tourists and an Egyptian tour guide. Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez called the attack a terrorist act.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Tran Thanh Cong visited the scene and Al Haram Hospital, where the victims were being treated, to visit, encourage and assess the situation. The Egyptian Prime Minister also visited the hospital to visit and offer condolences to the victims. At noon on December 29, the Egyptian Embassy in Vietnam issued visas to relatives of the victims to go to Egypt.
