Developing six strategic industries will boost technological innovation and increase labor productivity.

On August 8th, in Hanoi, the Central Institute for Economic Management Research, Ministry of Planning and Investment, organized a workshop to introduce Vietnam's industrialization strategy within the framework of Vietnam-Japan cooperation towards 2020, with a vision to 2030.

Vietnam's industrialization strategy within the framework of Vietnam-Japan cooperation aims to strengthen the production capacity of six key industries: electronics, agricultural machinery, agricultural and aquatic product processing, shipbuilding, environment, energy saving; and automobile and auto parts manufacturing.

The priority is to develop six strategic industries to promote technological innovation, increase labor productivity, and build international competitiveness. Successful implementation of this strategy will ensure that the prioritized industries lead in the application of high technology and clean technology, while maintaining suitability to Vietnam's economic conditions; the production value of these priority industries will increase by at least 20% annually and contribute at least 35% to the total industrial production value.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Tue Anh, Head of the Business Environment and Competitiveness Department at the Central Institute for Economic Management Research, stated: "This is a strategy jointly developed by Vietnam and Japan, specifically demonstrating action on the economic, trade, and investment partnership between Vietnam and Japan. We will create an environment to attract investment, whether state-owned or private, from both Vietnam and Japan, or even from other countries. Both sides will be responsible for participating from the outset, exchanging and discussing criteria, jointly evaluating and analyzing industries, selecting sectors, and then participating in the development of this strategy."
