Vietnam Airlines launches night flights to serve the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in 2013.

Due to congestion at airports during peak hours, Vietnam Airlines will operate night flights during the peak Tet holiday period. The earliest domestic flight will depart at 00:30 and the latest at 23:50 daily.

Particularly during the periods from February 6th to 8th (the 26th to 28th of the 12th lunar month) and February 15th to 17th (the 6th to 8th of the 1st lunar month), Vietnam Airlines will operate 24/7 on some popular routes to meet the needs of the public.

On the busiest day before Tet (February 8th, or the 28th day of the 12th lunar month), Vietnam Airlines operated over 400 flights per day, a 38% increase compared to normal and a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. On the busiest day after Tet (February 16th, or the 7th day of the 1st lunar month), the airline also operated over 430 flights per day, a 43% increase compared to normal and a 7% increase compared to the same period last year.

To date, more than 308,000 passengers have booked flights on Vietnam Airlines during the peak Tet holiday period. Approximately 125,000 seats are still available on these routes.

Passengers should proceed with ticket issuance as soon as they secure a seat on flights during this period. Once the ticket issuance waiting period expires, the system will automatically cancel unissued bookings and replace them with other bookings on the waiting list. In case a flight is fully booked, customers can make a reserve booking and provide their phone number so Vietnam Airlines can contact them to inform them when seats become available.

From January 21st to February 19th (i.e., from the 10th day of the 12th lunar month to the 10th day of the 1st lunar month), Vietnam Airlines will transport peach blossom, apricot blossom, and kumquat branches/trees on domestic flights operated by Boeing 777, Airbus A330, A321, and A320 aircraft.

For peach blossom and apricot blossom branches, Vietnam Airlines will accept them as checked baggage if they have been booked in advance through the booking system. The fee ranges from 200,000 VND to 400,000 VND per bundle (including VAT), depending on the route.

Peach trees, apricot trees, and kumquat trees (trees with soil attached) will be transported as cargo.
