Viettel Nghe An: Celebrating 10 years of establishment (January 1, 2003 - January 1, 2013)

(Baonghean.vn)- On the morning of January 2nd, the Viettel Nghe An branch solemnly celebrated its 10th anniversary of establishment and growth. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien – Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Ho Quang Thanh – Director of the Department of Information and Communications; and representatives from the 4th Military Region and Viettel Telecommunications Company.

Viettel Nghe An branch was officially established on January 1, 2003, formerly the Nghe An Telecommunications Center (POP) under the Military Telecommunications Company. Initially, the Viettel Center had only 7 employees and faced numerous difficulties. However, through an innovative business strategy, focusing on infrastructure development, improving service quality, and prioritizing remote, border, and island areas, Viettel Nghe An now has nearly 5,000 km of fiber optic cable, 1,480 BTS stations, and holds 61% of the market share among the 5 service providers in Nghe An, accounting for 55% of the province's telecommunications revenue. Viettel has become the number one mobile service provider, with estimated revenue of VND 1,700 billion in 2012 and contributing over VND 82 billion to the state budget.

Viettel has provided permanent employment for over 400 people, along with thousands of seasonal workers. Besides its business activities, the Viettel branch also participates in other social activities such as building charitable houses and supporting victims of Agent Orange.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien praised and highly appreciated the achievements of the Viettel Nghe An branch over the past 10 years. He expressed his hope that in the future, the unit will continue to build on its achievements to contribute to the economic development and national defense of the province, as well as help Nghe An soon become a strong province in information technology and telecommunications.

For its achievements, the Viettel Nghe An branch was awarded a banner by the Provincial People's Committee bearing the inscription "Viettel Nghe An: 10 years of building, developing and maturing.The Provincial People's Committee also awarded certificates of merit to one collective and six individuals; the Military Telecommunications Group awarded a certificate of merit to the branch for its outstanding achievements in production and business activities, and for building a strong Viettel branch over the past 10 years.
