Viettel Nghe An awarded more than 2.6 billion VND to the Scholarship Fund 'For studious children' school year 2021 - 2022

(Baonghean.vn) - With the message "When millions of small dreams, a big gesture is needed", over the past 7 years, the scholarship program "For studious children" has awarded 7,770 scholarships; equivalent to over 7.7 billion VND to poor, studious students in poor communes in Nghe An.

On the afternoon of October 1, Nghe An Association for Promotion of Education, Department of Education and Training and Viettel Nghe An jointly organized the "For studious children" scholarship award ceremony for the 2021-2022 school year.

The scholarship program “For studious children” has been implemented by the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education and the Voice of Vietnam since 2014, with a total estimated budget of 260 billion VND nationwide.

This scholarship program is for outstanding secondary and primary school students with difficult circumstances who strive to study well and train well in communes in the 135 area and communes in coastal and island areas across the country.

Every year, Nghe An receives about 1.1 billion VND from the program. Each commune in the policy will be supported with 10 scholarships; in cash or learning tools worth 1 million VND/scholarship.

In 2021, with the aim of helping students carry out their study program during school breaks, joining hands to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic with the motto“Stop going to school, don't stop learning”,Viettel continues to sponsor scholarships for 880 students in disadvantaged areas of Nghe An province; with a total value of more than2.6 billion VNDEach student will receive a scholarship of a Smartphone and a free Internet access package for 1 year to study online worth more than 3 million VND.

“This meaningful gift will be a useful tool for students to access information from the school and lectures from teachers quickly and effectively, meeting the expectations of the Steering Committee of the program “Waves and computers for children”. We hope that with practical work, joining hands for the community as Viettel Nghe An has been doing, it will have a strong influence, continuing to receive more attention from organizations, businesses, and individuals inside and outside the province towards the homeland of the “Nghe An” people. Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Dr. Thai Van Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Education and Training acknowledged the contributions of Viettel Nghe An to the socio-economic development of the province and the attention to practical actions for the development of Nghe An's education and training in the past time; contributing to the development of a widespread learning movement, while motivating many students to overcome difficulties, succeed, and contribute to building their homeland. He hoped that in the coming time, Viettel Nghe An would develop more and more strongly and continue to accompany the education sector, teachers, and students; meet human resources in the new context and contribute to building the province more and more developed.

During the period from September 15 to October 15, 2021, in order to promptly meet the online learning needs of students in the province, Viettel Nghe An also directly presented "For studious children" gifts in poor communes across the province./
