Vinamilk donates more than 110,000 cups of milk to support children in flood-hit areas
(Baonghean) - On September 26, Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company - Vinamilk and the Vietnam Children's Fund organized a trip to visit and donate milk to children in two provinces that suffered a lot of damage from floods, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh. The delegation included Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President, and representatives of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Vietnam Children's Fund and local authorities.

Previously, during a working session with National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan at Vinamilk's Vietnam Dairy Factory, Ms. Mai Kieu Lien - General Director of Vinamilk pledged to donate 160,000 milk boxes (equivalent to 1 billion VND) to children in the three provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Nghe An, the three localities that suffered the most damage in the recent storm No. 10. This relief trip to Ha Tinh and Quang Binh is the first trip of the working group to donate milk to children in flood-affected areas that Vinamilk has committed to.
Vinamilk and the Vietnam Children's Fund directly gave children in areas heavily affected by storms and floods in Ha Tinh and Quang Binh more than 110,000 boxes of milk to help them supplement their nutrition and recover physically after suffering from natural disasters.

Mr. Nguyen Trung - Chairman of the Trade Union of Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company Vinamilk said: "As the number 1 dairy company in Vietnam, we wish to take care of the development of Vietnamese children. With the milk boxes given to children in flood areas, Vinamilk hopes that this will not only be a source of spiritual encouragement for them but also an optimal source of nutrition to help them recover their health to continue going to school and return to their studies."
In Ha Tinh, the Vice President and the delegation visited and presented gifts to the family of Nguyen Thu Loc, residing in Chi Le village, Son Loc commune, Can Loc district. Loc had an accident and died while helping people overcome the consequences of the storm, leaving behind a family with a seriously ill wife and 3 young children. Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh shared the losses the family had suffered, encouraged the victims' relatives to overcome the difficulties and asked the local authorities, people and villages to pay attention and help Loc's family stabilize their lives soon.

On the same day, the delegation continued to visit and present gifts to disadvantaged families affected by storm No. 10 in Quang Binh province. Here, the delegation supported 4 families in Quang Xuan and Quang Hung communes, Quang Trach district whose houses were severely damaged with each gift worth 5 million VND. Receiving encouragement from the Vice President and the delegation, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province Nguyen Huu Hoai expressed his emotion and said that thanks to proactive response to the storm and urgent overcoming of the consequences after the natural disaster, the lives of people in the province have gradually returned to normal.
During its 41-year journey of establishment and development, in addition to focusing on developing high-quality nutritional products for Vietnamese consumers, Vinamilk has always cared about sharing with the community and society in difficult times. In 2016, Vinamilk also supported flood victims in the North and South Central provinces with 4.6 billion VND from the contributions of all employees of the company.

In addition to charity work and disaster relief, Vinamilk also focuses on developing and implementing long-term programs to develop the community, especially contributing to the Vietnam Grow Up Milk Fund, the 1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund, and the National School Milk Program. In 2016, Vinamilk contributed to the School Milk Program in 20 provinces and cities across the country with a total amount of VND 20 billion, equivalent to nearly 4 million boxes of milk for preschool and primary school students. And if calculated from the 2009-2010 school year, after nearly 10 years of Vinamilk pioneering the implementation of the National School Milk Program, the total number of students benefiting from the National School Milk Program is 380,000 students with a total subsidy budget from Vinamilk of VND 92 billion.
In addition to accompanying the Government's "National School Milk" program, Vinamilk has also been associated with the Vietnam Grow Up Milk Fund program since 2008, a program aimed at creating opportunities for poor and disadvantaged children across the country to drink milk under the leadership of the Vietnam Children's Support Fund under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. Up to now, after more than 10 years of operation, the total number of glasses of milk that the program has given during its 10-year journey is 31.5 million with a total value equivalent to nearly 130 billion VND to nearly 400,000 disadvantaged children in Vietnam. All of these activities are aimed at realizing the great goal of a growing Vietnam.
