Violin Hoang Rob speaks out about rumors of asking for $3,000

During the DVD launch of "Dawn" in USD format, the 9X violinist explained the information that he demanded a high salary.

Exactly one year after the live concert Hung Dong, violinist Hoang Rob has released a DVD of the program to mark his artistic path. The DVD records all 17 performances performed live by Hoang Rob with a 30-piece symphony orchestra and some famous guests such as singer Thu Phuong, singer Kieu Anh, 'peacock of the dance village' Linh Nga, erhu artist Tran Van Xam, group GEN9... Notably, the DVD was released by Hoang Rob in USD format, in addition to the classic disc version. This is considered the first USD format DVD in Vietnam.

The 9X violinist said that the USD format will help the audience access his products more widely through smart devices such as TVs, laptops, tablets... According to Hoang Rob, the violin is known as 'scholarly' and difficult for the majority of the audience to enjoy. Therefore, bringing his violin to a large number of music lovers through USB format products is a reasonable direction.

During a press conference in Hanoi yesterday afternoon (December 27), Hoang Rob confessed that he had not released any products in the past year because he was busy running shows to earn money. In response to rumors of charging 3,000 USD/show, he explained: "When I first started playing music at cafes and tea rooms in 2012, my fee was only 400,000 VND. Now the fee is more than 100 times higher than the old level, but the information that I have to pay 3,000 USD to accept a show is not quite true. If I perform at large-scale high-end art programs and it takes me 1-2 months to practice, I cannot get a cheap fee. But if it is a charity show, for me, the fee is not important. Last year, I was very happy because I started collaborating with some designers to play music at fashion shows."

Although he is a young violinist, in the past two years, Hoang Rob has spent a lot of money on filming MVs, even holding his own concert at the Opera House. When asked about where he gets the funds to invest in these big art projects, he said: "I have enough financial capacity to make products, and I also have many sponsors accompanying me. I know there are rumors that my family is very rich, but they just keep on spreading rumors. What matters is whether my products are of good quality and recognized by everyone or not."

Hoang Rob also revealed that he has accumulated quite a bit of salary to release two albums in 2018 at the same time with different styles, including a vinyl product. He will invite some famous artists to participate in his album such as diva Ha Tran, Thu Phuong, Le Hieu, singer Kieu Anh... He also has plans to bring the Hung Dong liveconcert to Saigon but rebuild the concept to be more entertaining, to suit the taste of the Southern audience.
