On the evening of October 16th, at the Lao National Stadium, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF), in collaboration with the Lao Football Federation (LFF), inaugurated the 2011 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship.

The tournament will take place from October 16th to 25th, with the participation of teams from Indonesia, Singapore, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, divided into two groups. The Vietnamese team is in Group A along with Indonesia, Singapore, and host country Laos.

This is a women's football tournament aimed at maintaining the development of women's football in the region after the sport was not included in the 26th SeaGames in Indonesia.

Previously, twoVietnam women's national teamAnd Singapore played their opening match, with the Vietnamese women's team winning against the Singaporean women's team 9-1, with player Nguyen Thi Hoa scoring 4 goals.

Vietnam national team coach Tran Van Phat believes that the team's victory in the opening match was very important, but the full strength of the opponents can only be assessed after the subsequent matches.
