Drowning while saving a suicidal person
In a house of about 30 square meters in Ward 7, Dau Tieng Town, Dau Tieng District, Binh Duong, Mr. Nguyen Van Giau (61 years old) was absent-mindedly standing next to the portrait of his son Truong Van An (24 years old). An unfortunately drowned while saving someone who had jumped into the river to commit suicide.
An's relatives said that yesterday afternoon, a girl named Phuong and a group of friends came to An's house to eat and drink. Later, Phuong received a phone call from her husband blaming her for leaving home to go out.

Upset after the phone conversation, Phuong took her motorbike and left. Worried that the girl would do something stupid, An and his friend Tung took their motorbikes to chase after her.
When she reached the Tau bridge (Dau Tieng town), Phuong stopped her motorbike and continued talking on the phone with an angry attitude. A few minutes later, she abandoned her motorbike, climbed over the railing and threw herself into the river.
Discovering the incident, An tried to hold the girl back but failed, so he quickly jumped after her and swam to where the girl was struggling.
After bringing Phuong to shore, An was exhausted and gradually sank into the river. His friend, Tung, who could not swim, quickly called for help.

Mr. Giau was devastated when he lost his only child. |
The girl fainted when brought to shore and was taken to the hospital. The doctor said she was 6 months pregnant.
While selling lottery tickets, Ms. Truong Thi Kim Loan (52 years old, An's mother) received news from relatives that her son was missing in the river. Leaving behind a stack of lottery tickets that she had only sold a few, she rushed to the pier and fainted when she saw people searching for her son.
It was not until 9:00 p.m. the same day that Binh Duong province rescuers found An's body.
Can't afford to buy a coffin for my child
Painfully accepting the body of their only son, Mr. Giau and his wife's pain was compounded when they only had 300,000 VND left in the house, not enough to buy a coffin for their son.
According to relatives, An was born into a poor family and did not go to school like his peers. Because he was illiterate, when he grew up, he could only do manual labor, such as construction work and porterage.

With everyone's help, the family had enough money to pay for An's funeral. |
While his father Tran Van Giau is also just a bricklayer, with an irregular job, his mother - Mrs. Loan - is seriously ill but still goes everywhere selling tickets every day.
The family's combined income is just enough to cover daily expenses, with no money left over.
"An was very obedient and loved my husband and I very much, but God took away our only child" - Mrs. Loan cried.
Seeing that Mr. Giau and his wife did not have enough money to pay for An's funeral, many people donated money to support him. When he had some money, Mr. Giau quickly went to buy a coffin for his son.
"An was unfortunate, he had to suffer many disadvantages since he was young. Now that he has passed away, he doesn't even have a coffin to lie in. As parents, we truly feel guilty towards our son" - Mr. Giau said bitterly.
Coming to burn incense and offer condolences to Mr. Giau and Mrs. Loan's family, neighbors could not hold back their tears at the passing of Mr. An at such a young age.
